Do You Have The Right Auto Insurance?
It's a nasty day in New Jersey today. It snowed all night, turned to sleet and ice...now it's raining. The roads are hazardous and dangerous. My best advice (even though I didn't take it myself) is to stay home.
I saw a number of fender benders on the way to the office. Nothing serious, but there will be some sad drivers when when the repair bills come their way. When was the last time you made sure you were insured properly? Do you even know what proper coverage should be for you? It's nothing to be ashamed about...most folks have no clue what coverage they have or should have.
The Internet is a great resource when you are shopping for auto insurance. Go to www.marronfinancial.com and click on the Auto / Homeowners Insurance link. One of our references is Esurance.com, just click on their banner and you'll be well on your way to finding the best coverage at great rates.
Drive carefully out there.

The Pain of C.O.B.R.A.
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act is better known as C.O.B.R.A. and it was created to provide employees who lose their jobs with a continuation of their health coverage at group rates. The coverage is temporary and generally lasts a maximum of 18 months (although up to 36 months is available in certain circumstances).
So you lost your job and you are now responsible for paying 100% of your health insurance premium plus a 2% fee for administrative costs. You don't have the flexibility to shop for better group rates either. With C.O.B.R.A. you continue with the plan your former employer selected. Oh, and if your former employer drops their insurance plan or goes out of business, you won't have any insurance either. If your employer has less than 20 employees than C.O.B.R.A. may not apply either.
The bottom line is, your financial situation becomes poor when unemployed. You can barely afford food, rent and other expenses...how are you going to pay for health insurance through C.O.B.R.A.? You can't shop for a less expensive plan or change plan benefits...you are stuck with your former employers choice. What can you do?
You can compare a variety of individual plans to find out which options are the most affordable for you and your family. Go to www.marronfinancial.com and click on Health Insurance. You will then be allowed to search the widest variety of plans and companies on the Internet. We recommend the you look at the options we provide through eHealth and we are sure you will find the right plan for you.

Identity Theft Plans
You may already be a victim of identity theft. The criminals may have your information and they are waiting for the right time to use it. That's the problem, you may never know what happened so you don't know how to fix the security gap.
I was once talking to an executive from Wisconsin about identity theft. She told me she wasn't worried about it. She painted a picture of a wonderful community where this sort of thing couldn't happen. "We don't even lock our doors when we leave the house", she proudly told me. I told her that life in her town sounded wonderful, but that the people looking to steal her identity didn't live in her town. The lived in another state...maybe another country. It was done via computer and not in person. These crooks could care less if her front door was locked or not because they are professionals at getting the information they need.
You've probably heard of LifeLock. I feel they are the cutting edge when it comes to protecting you against identity theft. I've been using their service for over one year and I think I am much safer than I was before buying this coverage. Go to www.marronfinancial.com and click on the identity theft section. If you proceed to the LifeLock banner you will get an education about identity theft and some sure fire solutions to the problem.

Discount Dental Plans
Many people are under the impression that Discount Dental Plans are not as good as Dental Insurance. There are pros and cons. You can go to http://www.marronfinancial.com/ and click on the dental section for more details.
Look at this simple example:
Let's say you have $2000 in dental expenses. For typical dental insurance plans your out of pocket expenses include the annual premium (assume $40 month/$480 year), a $50 deductible and a $1000 annual maximum limit. You would pay $480+$50+$1000 (the amount after the limit) for a total of $1530 out of pocket.
Discount Dental Plans for an individual average around $99 annually for the premium and there are no deductibles. There are also no limits, so the discount applies to the full amount of your expense. Let's use a 40% discount on all services for simplicity. So, you would pay $99 + ($2000 minus 40% discount = $1200) which is a total of $1299 out of pocket.
Which would you rather pay? You are way ahead of the game with Discount Dental Plans. If you need additional dental work the discount continues...there is no limit. Dental insurance is still capped and you must pay 100% until your next year starts.
Dental insurance often excludes orthodontics, but Discount Dental Plans keep applying the discount. Both insurance and Discount Dental cover preventative care for zero or minor fees.
If you already have dental insurance, you can use Discount Dental Plans to lower your costs and buy you more service before you hit your maximum limit. Employees can consider buying Discount Dental for their employees at a fraction of the cost of insurance. Even if you won't pay the premium, let your employees know about Discount Dental Plans. Send them to http://www.marronfinancial.com/ to learn more.

Life Insurance For Children
I am frequently asked if it makes sense to buy life insurance for children. There is something unsettling about purchasing life insurance on your kids. The key thing to remember is that this purchase isn't made from a profit motive. You aren't looking to cash in on the death of a child.
Reasons to buy life insurance for children include:
1. Introducing your children to the concept of protecting themselves with life insurance. This can be a lesson that benefits them for the rest of their lives.
2. Building a cash value in their life insurance policies. Your children will appreciate taking over the ownership of an asset worth thousands of dollars when they are 18 or 21.
3. Guarantee the future insurance protection of your child. Even a change in health can't take away their life insurance.
4. Burial costs in case something does happen. Life insurance smacks you in the face and reminds you that death can happen. The cost of this coverage is very low and this is an easy way to assure you have money to cover final expenses.
Go to the life insurance section at http://www.marronfinancial.com/ and look at the great offers from Gerber. You know the name and trust them. People have trusted their insurance needs to them for years too.

The cost of prescription drugs is a major contributor to the high cost of health insurance. Even if your employer offers health insurance, there is a good chance that there are limits on the prescription portion of your plan. On-Line vs. In-Person Insurance
I've been in the insurance business for nearly 30 years. When I started selling insurance there was no such thing as the internet, blogging, on-line sales or many of the tools we see today. The options for selling insurance to consumers was limited to mail, phone calls and referrals. But the world has changed and consumers consider the older methods as intrusions.
The role of the agent as advisor is important. Your agent helps guide you through the many products and options that an insurance purchase involves. Fortunately, the on-line offerings of insurance have improved to the point where you can educate yourself, find a variety of high-quality product choices and purchase the product over the internet.
I created www.marronfinanancial.com as an on-line agency that introduces you to some of the finest programs you can find on the net. Take a look at the many different types of insurance and coverage that you can explore. Feel free to contact me at info@marronfinancial.com with any questions.
